Coming into CrossFit One Shot, from a corporate challenge, Rachel had no idea what this lifestyle had in store for her and what a community of friends she was inheriting! Joining in May of 2016 through her work, Rachel had no friend circle yet as she just moved here. She wanted to use CrossFit initially to meet some people and just try it out. By December 2016 she was awarded "Most Improved" at our CrossFit One Shot Annual Reindeer Games---and with that, she didn't just stop there. Rachel took up Nutrition Coaching from Court and has been steady progress ever since. Joining CrossFit she started out at 230 pounds and weighed in Sunday at 159 pounds. WOW! She's been healthy about her weight loss (there's no magic pill), knowing that small successes turn into big successes. Read her bio below to see what is on the horizon for Rachel!

What go you started with CrossFit?
Crossfit One Shot was offering a corporate program through my new place of employment and I thought it would be a great opportunity for me to meet new people. I had been looking for something new, so I decided to give it a shot.
How has CrossFit impacted your health and lifestyle?
To say that CrossFit has changed my life would be an understatement. When I had joined the gym, I was searching for something in my life. I was also incredibly unhealthy, eating poorly, with little to no exercise in my daily activities. I did not have high hopes for my CrossFit abilities and did not think it was going to be a long term commitment for me. I could not have been more wrong. I lost more than just inches and weight, I also lost insecurities and self doubt which has carried over into my non-gym life as well. I have gained perseverance, strength both mentally and physically, and confidence in not only myself but in everything and everyone around me. The friends that I have made and the experiences that I have gained have impacted my life in such positive ways that I can't imagine going without it.
It has become a part of who I am.
What are you most recent accomplishments?
I was able to run my first half marathon in 2017!
What accomplishments are on your horizon and how are you preparing for them?
Coming up on March 4th, I will be running a marathon in New Orleans! I have been training for a couple of months now, doing accessory work everyday after CrossFit with the guidance and support of my amazing One Shot coaches. I've also been doing nutrition coaching for the last year and a half with Courtney, and she's been especially helping me with preparing for my full marathon. In June, I will also be running in the Spartan Super race in Chicago. Before the end of the year, I would like to do one more destination Half Marathon.
I have not decided where I would like to go yet, but it will be somewhere new and exciting!
Being a part of Crossfit has given me the ability to sign up for these events without drastically
altering my workout routines, while still being prepared.
Would you rather speak any language fluently or
be able to talk to animals?
Talk to animals!
If you could create a workout, what movements would it include?
I gotta have those Double Unders!
Please never program Back Squats! I could live my whole life never doing another one of those.
Someone new coming to CrossFit, what would be your best piece of advice?
Keep coming back! Ask the questions. The only way it gets easier is if you keep doing it! Improvements will come, if you want them to!
