Matt Wolf

Age: 28 years young

Occupation: to help keep the lights on. I am an Account Manager for a company that provides energy efficiency and reliability to the electric grid. I work day-to-day with big/small box retailers who participate in the programs our company offers.

How long you’ve CrossFitted for: 3 months

What got you started with CrossFit?
I started CrossFit because I needed more of a challenge in my workout. CrossFit motivates me get better, not only in my workouts/weights, but also living a healthier lifestyle. This motivation helps me get up every morning and go, that and my wife Renee, she is not a morning person, at all, if she's up, I'm up.

What successes have you seen thus far?
The successes I have seen thus far are mostly body and mind. My man boobs and spare tire are getting smaller! I

What would be your ultimate achievement?
My short term goal is get my form down on all movements. From there I can build up on weight and reps. My long term goal is to get into the RX and double under club.

I could do Back Squat on a good day, single unders all day long.

Currently, the CrossFit move I despise is anything with the combination of overhead and squat. Burpees suck, but are getting better.

How has CrossFit impacted your marriage?
We encourage each other to get up and go every morning. We push each other to finish strong and push harder. Renee reminds me when I drink too much water. We are both very competitive so we strive to one-up each other day-in and day-out.

We CrossFit together because we both have similar fitness and wellness goals. I am more focused on fitness, Renee is wellness and healthy eating. I pretty much, eat whatever she makes. We CrossFit together because it makes our relationship stronger. Being there for one another at the end of a tough workout; beat down, soaked in sweat, trying to regulate breathing = picking each other up when we're at our worse. We CrossFit together because we have to. Our household would not be same if we were not in it together. Going back to competitiveness, either we both do it or not do it at all.

Sarah has been going through nutrition coaching with Coach Courtney, meanwhile hitting PRs she's been stagnant at for a while & is a big smile in the gym! Hitting her #macros pretty solid has done her good! Applause her for her hard work & determination in continuing to be as strong as she can for her job, a firefighter!

Occupation: Firefighter

How long you’ve CrossFitted for: 7 months

What got you started with CrossFit?
I was in a serious fitness rut, with very low motivation. I was burned out on triathlon and was struggling to find a lifting routine that would push me. My job demands I am in prime physical condition, and I take that very seriously. I also wanted to make friends. I am new to the area, and I am finding after 30, it’s becoming harder to move in new social circles and I love the Crossfit camaraderie.

What successes have you seen thus far?
I have noticed that I am more comfortable in my gear at work. Moving all of our large equipment and performing arduous tasks is not nearly as exhausting as it used to be. When I follow my macros, I am noticing a definitive change in my body. I am becoming much leaner and I am noticing more muscle development. I have also seen some major gains in lifts I had plateaued on before. I am much more conscientious about what I eat and how it effects my physical performance in the gym and my life.

What would be your ultimate achievement?
Fully geared pull-ups!

I could do Power Cleans all day long.

The CrossFit move I despise is BURPEES – they’re evil!

Do you have a saying or motto that you live your life by?
I am not here for me, I am here for WE and we are here for them.

Casey Vannes
Age: 19 (almost 20)

Not only an athlete at the gym, but one of our coaches. Casey constantly strives for progress and recently has made huge gains in the gym. For the last few months, he's been put on a flexible dieting program taking large strides with maintaining his weight but heavily leaning out. He's also hit a long time coming goal of 11 unbroken MUs and is just shy of hitting his 300# clean goal. We couldn't be anymore proud to have someone so driven on our team.

How Long I’ve CrossFitted: 1 Year & 10 Months

What Got Me Started With CrossFit:

My older sister Courtney who is also apart of CFOS introduced it to me and with what she told me when she described it; I knew I would enjoy it. I tried a Saturday morning class with her almost 2 years ago and haven’t looked back since. Absolutely has become my passion!

Successes I’ve seen So Far:

There are so many areas I’ve seen myself succeed in that I never could have imagined of when I first started to CrossFit.

The majority of my success has come in the last 6 to 8 months.

In the area of mental toughness is night and day when I compare it to the first year of CrossFit for me.

I stand with the statement when people say that… “The human body can withstand almost anything, it’s the mind one has to convince it can keep going.” That’s never been truer than it is now in my life.

Strength goes beyond just numbers and the way someone appears. It’s the individuals own will, heart and determination to be the very best they can be and not letting any encounter get in the way.

Along with that, the weights on my lifts, the stamina on the pull-up bar, my endurance on the rings, my cardio when running or jump roping, etc.. All of that has taken HUGE strides and most recently I've dialed in on my nutrition.

My Ultimate Achievement: Make it to the CrossFit Regionals and give myself the chance to compete in the CrossFit Games some year. That would be a dream come true!

I Could do…Normal and Chest To Bar Pull-ups all day long. Love doing pull-ups and getting into my rhythm where I feel I can’t stop! Love the motion.

The CrossFit Move I despise is… Pistols

Jessica Tuttle

Age 26

@queen_tuttt is our Athlete of the week for Nov 20!!! Jess has lost 55 lbs since she started CrossFit in March. In just 8 months she has learned to have a BETTER MINDSET, has been a positive role model to her son & has made a huge group of friends.

Been CrossFitting for? 8 months

Why do you CrossFit?

At first I joined CrossFit to kick my butt in to shape and lose weight... but it turned into so much more. I learned a lot about myself, I had ZERO self confidence when I started and now I have a crazy amount of faith in myself that I can do whatever I put my mind to. I have made amazing friends along the way, we laugh, inspire and push each other, we are a family.

You can say I CrossFit to be a better role model for my son! I can see how proud he is of me. They say kids pick up your habits in life which is so true. I can now keep up with him without getting winded. We have Burpee and box jump competitions on the stone walls at the park while others look at us like we are crazy 🙈

I CrossFit _____ so I will always hear people cheering for me in my darkest moments and my muscles remind me of how hard I worked the day before.

The movement I love is _____ cleans

The move I despise is ________ a combo thrusters and kettle ball swings

The saying I have on repeat while I'm at the box is ____ “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Philippians 4:13

My Ultimate achievement? 1 Handstand Push up

Breanna Eger

Age: 23

She's lost weight, obtained a positive social circle & LOVES CrossFit and everything about it now!

How long you’ve CrossFitted for: 6 months

What got you started with CrossFit: My good friends were doing for it for a while and they were trying to get me to try it. Basically they wore me down... I had no idea what cross fit was or anything about it, I just knew I was tired of feeling lazy! I only heard that it was HARD! and for "crazy people" (from a non crossfitter) -- turns out i LOVE it😉

What successes have you seen thus far? I have definitely lost pounds and noticed some major gains in my biceps, shoulders, and quad areas. I've learned that I'm pretty strong actually! I also found out that I CAN, in fact, RUN! I always said "I CAN'T RUN" and truly believed it. The first time I ran 2 miles without stopping I was in disbelief. Then 3, then 4, then 5! and now I will be running a 10k this Saturday! However, I have reaped so many MENTAL benefits from cross fit. I was not in a great place in my life when I started cross fit. I am now 100% more confident in myself, I LOVE myself! I have discovered so many strengths within myself that I never noticed before, not only inside the gym but OUTSIDE of the gym. I now celebrate and focus what my body can DO and ACCOMPLISH rather than just the number on the scale (honestly, I'd rather see the number on the barbell go up). I have gained SO MANY good, inspiring, positive, and motivating friends that I never had before. These people push me, support me, and genuinely care for me; and I for them. This overall, has been my biggest gain!

What would be your ultimate achievement? I would LOVE to run a half marathon, but more than that I would LOVE to do unassisted pull ups.

I could do push jerks all day long (I actually love them)!

The CrossFit move I despise is kettle bell swings!

Do you have a saying or motto that you live your life by? "Be fearless in pursuit of what sets your soul on FIRE!"
